Drawing on an extensive background in corporate and business immigration in the US and Canada, Kevin Beigel leads a law office in Toronto. Kevin Beigel has particular knowledge of business applicants for immigration into Canada and the various rules that guide the application process.
Entrepreneurial applicants are defined as those who intend to manage and own companies in Canada. They must deliver employment opportunities for Canadian permanent residents or citizens.
There are various programs applicable to specific provinces. For example, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) for entrepreneur immigration provides a “temporary to permanent” pathway toward residency. Personal requirements include a minimum of CAD$600,000 in personal net worth and demonstrable experience in business and management (or a graduate school diploma). In addition, applicants must possess skills in basic English or French at the Canadian Language Benchmark level 4 (at a minimum).
Fees include a $3,500 application fee and a $300 registration fee. BC PNP applicants must also set out a plan to either launch an eligible new business or purchase and improve an existing company, making a personal investment of more than $200,000. In addition, at least one new full-time position must be created for a Canadian permanent resident or citizen.
